By cable car, whilst enjoying a panoramic view over the whole coast of western Sicily, you can reach stony Erice, the ancient medieval village with many castles and lush gardens.

A little further away, you can find San Vito lo Capo and its beach, which has earned it the title of the most beautiful coastal resort in Italy for several years in a row.

 

Not to be missed is a visit to the temple and theatre of Segesta, both immortal works built by the Elymians, the ancient descendants of escaping Trojans. Also not to be missed is a walk in Mazara del Vallo, among the alleys of the Kasbah with the museum of the Dancing Satyr.

 

Marsala offers a close encounter with the ancient Roman and Phoenician ships, huge relics kept in the museum at Baglio Anselmi.

Also Phoenician is the outpost of Mozia with its adjoining museum, reachable by boat through the picturesque Salt pans of Marsala.

 

Also to see are the pink flamingos of the salt pans of Trapani and the Egadi islands with their heavenly, pristine sea, food, wine and beaches.
